FDA to review Merck diabetes drug combo

The Food and Drug Administration will review Merck’s plan to market their drug Januvia and the older, generic drug metformin as a combination that together may decrease blood sugar levels in diabetics. A ruling is expected by October.

I hope all you fellow weak-willed diabetics survived Valentine’s Day with a minimum of sorrow. Your choices were to either endure a blood sugar spike by stealing your kid’s candy out of her school valentine haul, or choke down heart-shaped slabs of tofu.
