$725,000 raised through diabetes walk
Nearly $725,000 was raised yesterday in the Greater Louisville Walk to Cure Diabetes. This is an annual event to raise fund for the Kentuckiana Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. More than 3000 people participated in this year’s walk. The exact amount collected during the walk will be known only after all the teams and individuals finish turn in the money collected by them. Last year, the event raised more than $800,000 and it has come a long way from the first walk in 1987, which attracted 50 walkers and raised $15,000.
