A Family Friendly Juice For Juvenile Diabetics

by Kendra James, RN on April 18th, 2007

juice.jpgWalking through the grocery store, I stumbled upon juice that was on sale. The label caught my eye, 75% less sugar. It was immediately catapulted into my cart. Anything with less sugar is ok in my book.

While pouring the juice today I noticed that it was sponsored by JDRF, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. Old Orchard was the brand of juice. It is called Healthy Balance and comes in apple and apple-cranberry. The juice is sweetened with Splenda and contains 75% fewer calories, sugar and carbs than regular juice. Each 8 oz. serving is 6g carbs, 6g sugar.

Not only is it “healthier” for all kids and friendly for juvenile diabetics, but it also raises money and awareness for JDRF. The purchase of the juice helps insure that at least $500,000 will be donated to JDRF by Old Orchard Brands.
