Britain reassessing driving rules for type 2 diabetics

by Maruthi on March 29th, 2006

Britain is reassessing driving rules for type 2 diabetics and may ease some restrictions. As of now, diabetics who use insulin injections are not allowed to hold Group 2 driving licence. This is because it is feared that a fall in blood sugar can affect the speed of thought and may even cause a blackout. But recent studies have shown that people who use insulin injections are not likely to have more problems than those who use tablets. The government is planning to review these findings and then decide whether to make changes to the driving rules.
