Financial grant for research into Beta cell function and survival
More and more money and effort is being spent on diabetes research and medication. The latest area of diabetes research to get attention is Beta cell function and survival. In a major boost to beta cell research, financial support is being provided to European researchers by European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes (EFSD) and Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD).
The research program will run for three years and the total award would be €1,400,000, which will be shared by a number of researchers from across Europe. This year’s grant winners will be announced European Association for the Study of Diabetes conference in Athens.
This award programme is intended to accelerate Beta cell function research and possibly move towards a cure for diabetes. It will increase diabetes awareness throughout Europe and promote collaboration between various European diabetes research groups and industry.
