India will have 57 million diabetics by 2025
India will have 57 million diabetes patients by the year 2025, according to a study by World Health Organization (WHO). 25-30 million people are known diabetics while there may be another 20 million who don’t know that they have diabetes. Another statistic is 10 to 12 percent of the urban population is affected by diabetes, while in the rural areas the figure is about 3 to 4 percent. India is the second largest populous country (after China) and has the largest number of diabetes persons in the world.
