Meat increases diabetes risk

by Maruthi on March 7th, 2006

Ok, not all meats, its only red and processed meats. In a study, U.S have researchers found that red and processed meats could increase the risk of diabetes by upto 40 percent. The study involved nearly 70,000 women over a period of 14 years. None of these women had diabetes at the beginning of the study and nearly 2700 of them developed type 2 diabetes during the 14 year period. It was found that those women who took more of grains, vegetables and fish were at a lesser risk of diabetes than those who took more of meat.
