Nintendo’s Wii Proves To Help With Physical Fitness
We all know that daily exercise is a part of a healthy cardiac lifestyle as well as diabetes lifestyle. I mentioned this over on my Hearty Life site as well. I really think it is a very cool concept!
We also know that it is tough to aways make time for our very needed exercise and we tend to fall into the “rut” that is associated with these all to common happenings. Hey, we are not perfect, right?
I do have some fun news to share with you. How many are familiar with Nintendo’s Wii? If you don’t have one in your house presently, good luck on making a reasonable bid as they are in high demand. Getting back to my point, Wii is now being prescribed as part of physical therapy for stroke patients and cardiac surgery patients and for general energy and exercise. Heck… it is the bomb for anyone that wants a fun, exciting workout!
Robbie Winget, an occupational therapist who oversees use of the Wii at Dodd Hall, said news that a rehab hospital in Alberta, Canada, was using the popular new video game system sparked the idea. Winget played with the Wii at a friend’s house and was convinced that it could help patients build balance, coordination, endurance and upper and lower body strength.
I thik that it is a great idea. To combine 2 things that you enjoy into one and be able to compete against others all over the world definitely takes the seriousness out of the activity. And you run, balance, kick, punch and sweat yourself into having a kickin’ good time while keeping your physical exercise in check and progressing. It is a great sense of rehab! I want me a Wii!!!!!! But I won’t let my hubby pay more than $350 for one which will be the demise of my Wii situation but I can hold out I suppose.
The Wii fit game will be out early in 2008 via Joystiq.com. NintendoWii fan boy provided a demo and it is worth taking a peek at it. You will want a Wii too!!!!! It just sucks you in, haha.

The Wii is amazing. It took me 2 months and allot of phone calls to local stores to find my Wii. If you are persistent enough you will find one.

That is very cool! I love the Wii, I don’t play it much, but it’s a blast when I do!

I got one via ebay. I decided that paying the premium was easier than trying to play phone tag in order to get one.
It’ll be under the Christmas tree this year. I hear that you can get a low from playing. I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for the game pointer, I’ll have to check it out.
