Tight blood sugar control reduces risk of heart disease in type 1 diabetics
In a landmark study spread over 20 years, researchers have found that having a tight control over blood sugar levels reduces the risk of heart disease by more than 50% in people with type 1 diabetes. The study involved 1,400 people. Dr.David Nathan, the lead researcher said that the same could be true for people with type 2 diabetes also, but we just dont know yet. Controlling blood sugar has huge positive impact on kidney and other diseases. The results of the study appear in the December 22 issue of New England Journal of Medicine
