Tomato juice helps type 2 diabetics

by Maruthi on August 27th, 2005

"Platelet aggregation" is the blood’s ability to clot.  Platelets help the blood to clot in case of an Tomato injury.  But when clotting goes too far, it could result in serious health complications like heart attack and type 2 diabetics run a higher risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular problems.  Researchers have found that having a little tomato juice everyday can have a blood thinning effect on type 2 diabetics.  This was concluded from a study involving 14 men and 6 women type 2 diabetic patients of 43 to 82 years of age with no prior history of clotting problems, for three weeks. It is not yet clear how tomato juice has this effect.  For now, a little tomato juice can be good for diabetes. The findings appear in the aug 18 issue of Journal of American Medical Association.
