Unusual form of Inheritance increases diabetes in US
This is interesting. A new study in the Journal of Lipid Research suggests an unusual form of inheritance may have a role in the rising rate of diabetes, especially in children and young adults among the US. We all know that we get half of our DNA from mom and half from dad- but to know metabolic programming during a critical period of development, either in the womb or soon after birth, can trigger permanent changes in metabolism… wow.
This study was performed on mice and high fat diets were used to aid in the research. Further proof that we need to watch what we eat while pregnant and breastfeeding! I am sure there will be more to come on this.
