Update On My Blood Sugars, Up And Down…
Just a little update. The other day I wrote that my blood sugar was very high. Well, it stayed like that through Thursday. It was between 245 and 500. I felt fuzzy but was surprised at how quickly I adapted to the high blood sugar
Yesterday AM I saw the doctor. While driving there on I95 I started to get very shaky and started to sweat. I checked my sugar at a stop light after getting off the highway. 47! Uh huh, low indeed. I still had 2 miles or so to get to the doctors so I put the windows down and drove as fast as I could to make it into the parking lot. I somehow got out of the car, walked in the office and hit the ground.
Yeah, my eyes rolled back for a minute or so. When I looked up I saw panicked faces. I insured them everything will be just fine and I needed sugar. I drank 100g of sugar and carbs and ate some Hershey kisses. With my shaky hands I checked my sugar, 38.
Oh boy, what in the h@#$ is going on? The doctor ordered a slew of labs and I scheduled an appointment with the endocrinologist.
I had trouble keeping my sugar up all day long. I woke this AM and checked my sugar, 200. Ok, so I guess I am back up today. This is so puzzling! Remember, I don’t take any medications for my diabetes so there is no rhyme or reason to my blood sugars.
Any suggestions? Do you think I should eat 6 mini meals to try to stabilize my sugars? Has anyone had this problem?

Kendra there is a lot of weird things that happen with diabetes. I keep detailed logs and thus I see it. I am a type 1 having had D for 45 years. In March I had terrible hypos, below 30 mg/dl, after my lunch insulin. This happened three days in a row. Of course I decreased my meal insulin, eventually to to half of the normal amount. The important point is that these hypos had NO possible explanation to explain them. Food, insulin, exercise were unchanged! Slowly I have increased my insulin for lunch back to the normal level, but the need for more insulin has not stopped and now I need 50% MOREE than my usual dose. There are factor that influence our bg values that we do not know of today. i cannot advice you - just check your bg often and keep your doctor informed. I am so sorry you are having a rough time!

@Chrissie: Thanks so much for taking the time to read AND respond. I have been keeping a journal. I guess my tiredness right now is due to the up and down. I feel kinda off, you know? I am sure this to will pass and I will get back to normal, at least I hope. :)
