Well, I feel sort of girly now

According to a report in the journal Diabetes Care, men with testosterone levels in the low to normal range and more prone to develop diabetes than those with higher levels, regardless of obesity.
Researchers from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health found that men with the lowest levels of testosterone were four times more likely to have diabetes than men with the highest levels.
“Low testosterone levels are common among men with diabetes and there is growing evidence that low testosterone may be a risk factor for developing diabetes,” said researcher Dr. Elizabeth Selvin.
The report did not address whether or not we’re more likely to watch Grey’s Anatomy, too.

Hi Rob, this entry is kind of timely for me. I started reading this because my niece is a type I diabetic, since she was about 3 yrs old. My husband is 47 and I think he is starting to show signs of early type II diabetes, although he is in pretty good shape and even with a bit of a beer belly he is not overweight. I have also suspected he has low(er than average) testosterone. He would tell me I’m crazy if I asked him to get checked for any of this. Can you point to any sources that talk about the diabetes/testosterone connection, or about non-typical type II diabetes?
