Yeast can help in developing nasal spray

by Maruthi on February 6th, 2006

A recent research has found that yeast can open nasal cells, which could aid diabetics in receiving insulin via nasal sprays. The tissue layers lining the nose form a barrier for large molecules like insulin. Yeast can open up these barriers and hence can help in the transport of insulin. Also, yeast is non toxic. The research is in its early stages and is being conducted at Leeds university.
